Welcome

Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,

Welcome to Issue 27 of The Warbler. As you scroll through this latest edition, I am sure you will share the immense pride I feel reflecting on the sheer variety of opportunities our students embrace, and their dedication to being “Ambitious” in everything they do.

The short half-term between Easter and May has been absolutely jam-packed with wonderful opportunities for our young people. It has been an incredibly vibrant and successful period for our school community, both inside and outside the classroom. Our students have been busy exploring the world, from our Years 9, 10, and 11 residential trip to Paris for a wonderful taste of French culture, to our Year 7 geographers swapping the classroom for the rainforest at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Back on school grounds, we have been preparing our students for the future with fantastic events like our record-breaking Annual Careers Day—hosting 65 external exhibitors—and our invaluable Year 10 Mock Interview Day. Our Year 9 students also had a brilliant, hands-on look into modern criminology during their Forensic Science Day at the University of Staffordshire, while our Year 8s engaged wonderfully with our proactive community workshops.

Our sporting arenas have seen a phenomenal season of triumph and teamwork. A massive congratulations must go to our Year 9 Boys’ Football Team, who showed incredible grit to be crowned County Champions for the second consecutive year! Our girls’ sports teams have also enjoyed an exceptionally busy term, showcasing outstanding skill and sportsmanship across football, netball, and rounders.

Along with many more things detailed in this newsletter, these achievements truly reflect the energy and dedication of our staff and students. I hope you enjoy celebrating these brilliant milestones and student successes with us. Thank you, as always, for your unwavering partnership and continued support of The Wilnecote School.

Yours faithfully,

Mr D. Foskett

Headteacher, The Wilnecote School
