Wilnecote Year 10 Students: Shine in Annual Mock Interviews

The Wilnecote School recently transformed into a professional hub as our Year 10 students stepped into the spotlight for our highly anticipated Annual Mock Interview Day. A central component of our school’s careers program. The event offered our students a vital opportunity to test their professional manner and gain confidence ahead of their future steps.

The success of the day was built on weeks of dedicated preparation. Working closely with their tutors, students crafted their first-ever CVs, learning how to effectively highlight their skills and achievements. The Mock Interview Day was the ultimate test of this preparation, providing them with a platform to discuss their personal strengths and articulate why they would be valuable assets to a future employer.

It was a chance for students to step out of their comfort zone, practice “selling themselves” to a new audience, and receive honest, valuable feedback on how they present themselves in a professional setting. This experience is essential as our Year 10’s prepare to apply for placements next year and begin their search for their first job.

We were delighted to be supported by 20 local businesses and employers, whose representatives provided authentic insight and guidance throughout the day. Their presence highlighted the strong connections Wilnecote maintains with the wider community.

Jayne Talbot, Careers Support, noted:

“It was truly impressive to see how seriously the students took the process. They were articulate, well-prepared, and showed a level of professional maturity that will serve them exceptionally well in their future careers.”

Samantha McDonald, Assistant Headteacher & Personal Development added:

“The students were a credit to the school. It was a pleasure to discuss their range of experiences with them; they were polite, receptive to feedback, and clearly ready to take on the challenges of the workplace.”

The event was a resounding success, leaving our students feeling more empowered and ready to embrace the challenges of the working world. We would like to extend our warmest gratitude to all of the companies that gave up their time to truly inspire our students.
