Welcome

Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,
Welcome to the latest edition of The Warbler. As we move through the spring term, I am frequently struck by the sheer variety of opportunities our students embrace here at The Wilnecote School. This issue is a brilliant showcase of our collective commitment to being “Ambitious” in everything we do.
It has been a particularly vibrant few weeks for our school community. I was delighted to see our geographers return from their recent residential trip to Iceland. It was an overwhelming success; seeing our students move beyond the classroom to witness the raw power of tectonic boundaries and glacial systems is exactly the kind of enrichment we pride ourselves on providing.
Back in school, the energy has been equally high. We recently celebrated World Book Day, with our corridors transformed into the pages of various literary classics. It was a pleasure to see both staff and students engage so creatively with the joy of reading. We were also privileged to host “Spudman” for a masterclass with our BTEC Enterprise students. His journey from a local stall to a national brand offered a fantastic insight into the world of business and entrepreneurship.
In the sporting arena, our students continue to excel. I must offer my warmest congratulations to our badminton teams, who recently dominated the District Championships. To return as champions in both the Year 11 and Years 7–9 categories is a historic “double victory” for Wilnecote, and a testament to the tactical brilliance and grit of our players.
I am also pleased to share some excellent news regarding our school environment; following a recent inspection, our school canteen has been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating. This is a well-deserved recognition of the hard work our catering team puts in to support our students’ wellbeing every day.
Finally, I would encourage all parents to downloaded The Wilnecote School App.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. I hope you enjoy reading about the many successes of our students in this edition.
Yours faithfully,
Mr D. Foskett Headteacher
