Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,

Welcome to the latest edition of The Warbler. As we approach the February half-term break, it is a pleasure to reflect on a period defined by academic focus, creative energy, and a real sense of community spirit across The Wilnecote School.

This half-term has been particularly vibrant, with our students engaging in a variety of experiences that extend far beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Reaching New Heights: Our Year 11 students recently enjoyed a fantastic visit to the National Space Centre. As they navigate the final stages of their GCSE journey, it was wonderful to see them exploring the wonders of the cosmos and considering the “big picture” of science and technology. This trip provided a welcome moment of inspiration during a very busy academic year.

Prioritising Well-being: Supporting the “whole child” remains a core priority for us. This term, our Year 9 students participated in a dedicated Mental Health Awareness Workshop. It was encouraging to see our young people engage so maturely with vital topics such as resilience, self-care, and supporting one another.

Creative Excellence: The arts have truly taken center stage this month. Our school production of Shrek The Musical was an absolute triumph. The dedication shown by the cast, crew, and band was professional-grade, and the “shrek-tacular” performances brought a great deal of joy to our school community.
Furthermore, our GCSE Drama students broadened their horizons with a trip to see a production of Teechers. Immersing themselves in live theater is an essential part of their development, and I know they have returned with plenty of fresh ideas for their own performances.

As we close this chapter of the half term, I would like to thank our families for your steadfast support and our staff for their tireless commitment to our students’ success.

I wish you all a restful and safe February Half Term. I hope our students take this time to recharge and enjoy the break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for the challenges and opportunities that the remainder of the year will bring.

Go4Schools (Accessible via Main App): View your child’s reports and homework assignments you can now access Go4Schools within The Wilnecote School App (Hub section) for a seamless experience. Parents don’t need to download anything extra.

Parents’ Evening – SchoolCloud (Accessible via Main App): Book parents’ evenings and after-school clubs directly through The Wilnecote School App, saving you the need for a separate app.

Mind Matters: Year 9 Students Champion Well-being

On Tuesday 3rd February, GCSE Drama students from The Wilnecote School swapped the classroom for the auditorium with a visit to the New Vic Theatre. The trip provided a vital opportunity for students to witness a professional staging of John Godber’s classic play, Teechers, bringing their theoretical studies to life.
