Happy National Thank a Teacher Day!

On June 17th, schools up and down the country are celebrating National Thank a Teacher Day. Here at The Wilnecote School, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the dedication, kindness, and hard work of our teaching and support teams, in association with Tesco, who have kindly supported our celebrations this year!

Recently, our community has come together to show a massive wave of appreciation, with parents and students sharing moving tributes that detail just how much of a difference our staff make every single day.

Commenting on the incredible response, Headteacher Mr Foskett shared his pride in both the staff and the wider school community:

“I am absolutely thrilled by the overwhelming number of lovely messages we have received from our parents, carers, and students this week. National Thank a Teacher Day is always a special occasion, but seeing our wider community come together to share such heartfelt appreciation has been truly moving. These tributes are a wonderful reminder of the dedication shown by our teaching and support teams every single day. I want to extend my personal thanks to everyone who took the time to send in a nomination, and to our incredible staff who continue to go above and beyond to make a lasting difference at The Wilnecote School.”

Here are just a few of the heartfelt, anonymous highlights from the messages received this week:

Going Above and Beyond for Our Students

Our team’s patience and commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive environment have shone through beautifully:

  • Building Confidence: One family reached out to thank a dedicated educator for the massive amount of support given to a departing student, highlighting how much the student respected them and looked forward to lessons. The teacher even boosted the student’s confidence by providing opportunities to referee for the school.

  • Creating a Sense of Belonging: A parent shared a moving tribute to a teacher who has made an incredible difference for their son, a student with autism. The parent expressed deep gratitude for the teacher’s kindness, patience, and ability to see his strengths, creating a fun, engaging, and supportive classroom where he truly felt valued.

  • Helping Every Child Shine: A staff member praised a colleague for their outstanding work with Year 7, calling them a fantastic educator who truly understands and involves students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), giving everyone a chance to shine in the classroom.

Invaluable Support and Guidance

From academic encouragement to life-changing personal support, the impacts are lasting:

  • Guiding the Way to GCSE Success: A student shared a powerful message of gratitude to a staff member who saved their educational opportunities, noting that they wouldn’t have made it to the end of Year 11 and completed their GCSEs without this crucial support.

  • Pure Dedication: A colleague shared their admiration for a fellow staff member who works tirelessly every single day purely out of care for their students, adding that both staff and students completely adore them.

  • Believing in Our Youth: A student shared a short but sweet note simply thanking a teacher for always believing in them.

National Thank a Teacher Day reminds us of the profound impact our educators have. A massive thank you to Tesco for partnering with us, to everyone who sent in a nomination, and to the entire team at The Wilnecote School. Your warmth, dedication, and care do not go unnoticed, and you continue to leave a lasting legacy on our young people and their families!
