At The Wilnecote School, we are incredibly proud of our students and all they do, both inside and outside of school. For example, Oliver Woolgrove is devoted to snowboarding and wakeboarding.

Oliver has been snowboarding since he was about 6 years old, but he started wakeboarding even earlier! If you aren’t sure what wakeboarding is, it is a water sport which involves a person standing on a board, being pulled across the wakes (waves) behind a speedboat. Oliver thinks this is an incredibly fun sport that he loves to take part in.

Normally, he snowboards at the Snowdome, but Oliver has also been abroad with his family to Bulgaria, France (twice), and Italy. He is also going to Italy again this year! He has competed in many competitions, such as the Brits, the Swiss Champs, and the World Rookie Tour! Along the way, he has won various prizes, including a snowboard and even a holiday!

For Oliver’s best trick in snowboarding, he spins 270 degrees onto a pipe, slides forward, and spins 270 degrees off of it. To be able to complete such amazing tricks, he has to commit to long training sessions. Every week he trains three times for three hours each!

Because of his hard work, Oliver has recently been sponsored by the Snowdome. He was noticed from videos online of him performing tricks, from how dedicated he is to his sport, and from how much he has progressed.

Everyone at The Wilnecote School is incredibly proud of Oliver and all that he has accomplished so far. We hope he continues with his passion for snowboarding and wakeboarding and wish him luck in the future.
