The spirit of determination and teamwork soared high as Wilnecote School’s formidable Wolf Run Team showcased an exceptional performance at the recent Wolf Run event at Stanford Hall, conquering challenging obstacles and muddy terrain with remarkable grit and camaraderie. This year’s team held special significance, as it marked the first time students have joined teachers in the challenging race. It included students from the Kenya trip cohort, aiming to strengthen their bonds through a challenging team-building activity alongside staff members, notably Miss Tongue and Mr. McDonald, who will also be accompanying them to Kenya.

The 3-kilometre course, a true “Wolf” challenge, comprised an exhilarating mix of water crossings, formidable obstacles, natural lakes, and open fields. Spectators and organisers alike were impressed by the students’ unwavering energy and their collective effort to navigate the course’s notorious hurdles. Participants bravely tackled waist-deep mud and plunged into chilly water, with a particularly memorable moment seeing staff members, notably Mrs. Ager, receive some enthusiastic “daisy dunking” from the students – all in good fun and great spirits!
A true testament to their unity, the team demonstrated remarkable teamwork from start to finish. They all began the race together and crossed the finish line as one cohesive unit, embodying their shared goal. Throughout the course, students and staff alike were seen helping each other over towering walls and through daunting tunnels, showcasing incredible mutual support. Adding to their good fortune, the team managed to avoid the rain, making for a perfect day out.

“It was incredible to see how they supported each other every step of the way,” commented Miss Tongue. “When one student faced a particularly tough obstacle, there were always hands reaching out to help. That’s what the Wolf Run is all about – not just individual achievement, but collective success, and I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing these students continue to grow and develop on our upcoming Kenya trip.”

The team not only completed the challenging course but did so with lots of fun and broad smiles, carrying a palpable sense of accomplishment. Every participant expressed how their confidence had significantly grown through this shared, demanding experience.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our Wolf Run team,” stated Mr. Foskett, Headteacher of Wilnecote School. “Their courage, resilience, and unwavering teamwork truly shone through on the course. This experience has been an incredible team-building exercise, especially for our Kenya trip cohort, and it fills me with great excitement to see what amazing things they will achieve on their upcoming journey.”
