Welcome

Dear Parents, Carers, and Members of the wider community,

I am delighted to present the latest edition of The Wilnecote Warbler, your essential update on the numerous achievements, trips, and successes that have brought this half-term to a successful close.

This edition highlights the truly ambitious spirit of our students. We celebrate great progress and victories in sports, including the fantastic advancement of our Girls’ Football team in the County Cup and the impressive start to the English Schools National Cup by our Year 8 Boys’ team. Our Year 7 and 8 Netball teams also took to the court, gaining valuable experience and securing a win against local rivals. Outside of team sports, we are incredibly proud of one of our students, Luca, who achieved a spectacular clean sweep of victories at Brands Hatch in his motorcycle racing.

Beyond the field and track, this has been a term of growth and wider opportunity. Our students have broadened their horizons on the international stage, with a team of determined individuals returning from a transformative humanitarian expedition to Kenya, Following their return, they have been committed to giving back to our local community, sharing their incredible experiences and lessons learned by leading assemblies at local primary schools. Other students deepening their historical understanding on a moving trip to the World War I battlefields in Belgium. Back in the classroom, students showed their culinary creativity at the European Day of Languages Bake Off, and a successful Book Fair Bonanza boosted our school library resources.

Finally, we are proud to share our ongoing commitment to providing an outstanding learning environment. The school and Trust have completed Phase Two of a major refurbishment project for our Science department. This significant investment has seen two additional science laboratories and their adjacent prep rooms transformed from outdated designs into modern, inspiring learning spaces, cementing our drive for excellent science teaching.

As we now head into the half-term break, I want to wish all our families a restful and enjoyable week. Please encourage your children to take this time to recharge and enjoy some quality time away from the demands of school life.

We look forward to welcoming all our students back to school, refreshed and ready for the next term, on Monday, November 3rd.

Warm regards,

Mr. David Foskett Headteacher, The Wilnecote School
