Welcome
As we come to the end of a very long term, I have been impressed with our student’s resilience and determination in their studies. As you will see from this Christmas edition of the Wilnecote Warbler, it has been a very busy term with lots of events and celebrations.
This term we celebrated two of our students, Olivia and Joseph representing our school in a district cooking contest, with Olivia securing a spot in the regional finals of the prestigious Springboard Future Chef competition. All regional finalists receive expert mentorship from a successful professional chef to further develop their culinary skills.
The final few weeks of term have been full of events such as our annual awards evening celebrating achievements of the previous academic year. Over one hundred students and their families were invited to the evening where awards were presented for academic achievement and effort for each subject, as well as individual awards for student of the year.
Last Friday we held our Christmas jumper day whereby students could wear a Christmas jumper in exchange for a food donation as part of our collection for local food bank charities. There was an array of assorted and particularly bright jumpers on show and just over half a ton of food, worth £1500 was collected and now safely in the hands of the food bank in time for Christmas. I was extremely proud of our students and your support for this cause at this time of year when it is so needed.
In the new year I hope to reach out to parents and offer an invitation into school, to walk the corridors with me and see what we are like on a daily basis, see what we are doing well and see the challenges we want to address. It will be an opportunity to ask questions and give feedback, get a feel for the progress we have made and the direction we are going in. After completing my fourth term as Headteacher, I have no doubt that Wilnecote is a very good school, but I also have no doubt we can be even better, so your feedback at this event would be welcomed.
I hope you enjoy reading the final edition of the Warbler for 2024.
Finally, I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Yours faithfully
Mr Foskett
Headteacher

Celebrating Student Success
At The Wilnecote School, we are incredibly proud of our students and all they do, both inside and outside of school. For example, Oliver Woolgrove is devoted to snowboarding and wakeboarding.
Oliver has been snowboarding since he was about 6 years old, but he started wakeboarding even earlier! If you aren’t sure what wakeboarding is, it is a water sport which involves a person standing on a board, being pulled across the wakes (waves) behind a speedboat. Oliver thinks this is an incredibly fun sport that he loves to take part in.

It’s no secret that women are massively under-represented when it comes to jobs in the field of cyber security and computer science. Despite women holding some of the most senior cyber security positions in companies such as Microsoft, Google and Cisco, the world of computer science is still seen by many as something of a…
Our school community once again demonstrated its commitment to local welfare through its annual food bank drive. The 6th iteration of this event, coupled with the second annual Christmas Jumper Day, took place on Friday, 13th December 2024.
The Wilnecote School Music Department brought the Christmas spirit to life on Tuesday evening with their annual Christmas Concert. The event was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible musical talents of students across all year groups.

Boys PE Round-up
Mr Doyle who oversees boys extra-curricular sports at The Wilnecote School was full of praise when he commented “I am incredibly proud of every single boy who has represented the school this term. Their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship have been truly inspiring. These results are a testament to their hard work and the fantastic support they receive from their families and the school.”
Rewards Cinema
The final week of term has seen over 500 students rewarded for their positive behaviour and good attendance. Years 7 to 10 were treated to a movie with snacks and a drink on Wednesday and year 11 enjoyed an extended break time with hot chocolate, cookies and savoury snacks on Thursday. Well done to all students involved in the reward events.
