Wilnecote School Unveils Phase Two of Major Sciencelab Overhaul with Over £100,000 Investment

The Wilnecote School is cementing its commitment to excellent science teaching with the completion of Phase Two of a major refurbishment project. This latest summer work has transformed two additional science laboratories and their adjacent prep rooms, moving them from outdated 1980s designs into modern, inspiring learning spaces.

The extensive 12-week project represents a crucial step in the school’s strategic vision. It follows the successful completion of two other labs last academic year, meaning four labs are now completely modernised with the rest due for completion in the near future.

Ready for Modern Science Teaching

The transformation, achieved with an investment exceeding £100,000, ensures the new facilities are fully equipped for modern science teaching. The outdated fixtures are gone, replaced by contemporary benches, equipment, and layouts that allow for better practical experiments and student collaboration. These changes are designed to significantly enhance hands-on learning and student engagement.

The work was expertly handled by N R Shiperley & Co under the professional direction of the Derek Evans Partnership.

“We’re incredibly proud to unveil the latest phase of our science department’s transformation, which represents an investment of over £100,000,” said Mike Stevenson, Business Manager for The Wilnecote School. “These modern labs provide our students and staff with the inspiring classrooms they deserve. This is a vital commitment that ensures our science department can continue to deliver outstanding lessons. We are now eagerly looking forward to completing the final stage of the project in the near future, which will see the entire department brought up to the same exceptional standard.”

Community Trust Drives Investment

The significant investment comes from the trust that manages the school, the Community Academies Trust. This ongoing, multi-phase funding underscores the Trust’s dedication to providing excellent resources. The final phase of the project, set for the near future, will bring all remaining labs up to this high modern standard, securing a state-of-the-art facility for the Wilnecote community for years to come.
