On Friday 17th November The Wilnecote School celebrated Children in Need with a variety of activities. In the weeks leading up to the event students were able to purchase Pudsey merchandise via ParentPay. This sold really well and it was great to see students proudly wearing their Pudsey ears, badges and wristbands when the day arrived.
In addition to this each tutor group was se the challenge of raising £5 between them. Their reward for achieving this was that they got to submit a question for our Q&A session with our new Headteacher Mr Foskett. This was a great way of raising money and an opportunity to find out more about one of the newest members of our school community. Lots of tutor groups went above and beyond, raising much more than the £5. However, Miss Dickens form (11AD) raised the most with an astonishing £55! What a great achievement.
We also raised money during tutor time on Friday by holding an ‘I’m a Teacher Get Me Out of Here’ Bushtucker trial which saw six brave members of staff eating weird and wonderful combinations of foods, with the final round including mealworms. Students purchased tickets for this event via ParentPay and it was sold out which created a great atmosphere and most importantly helped us raise lots of money for Children in Need. Those students who weren’t able to purchase tickets still got involved through our Guess the Teacher competition. Each tutor group was given a sheet full of baby photos of members of staff and their challenge was to try and correctly identify each member of staff. I think it’s fair to say that some were more challenging than others.
All in all it was a great day with a positive atmosphere around school and over £700 raised for a great cause. Everyone in school played a part in making the day a success but special thanks must go to our Year 11 Junior Leadership Team who organised the whole event, well done!
