A Night to Remember at Statfold Barn

The Year 11 Class of 2026 celebrated the end of an era with a spectacular Prom at Tamworth’s historic Statfold Barn on Friday 3rd July. Students arrived in style, marking five years of hard work and community spirit with an unforgettable evening of celebration, laughter, and fond farewells.

You might have noticed an unusual amount of glamour, sharp suits, and stunning gowns trailing through Tamworth last Friday evening. The Class of 2026 were heading to their highly anticipated Year 11 Prom, and they certainly made sure it was a night to remember.

Statfold Barn provided the perfect, picturesque backdrop for the celebrations on 3rd July. The venue, usually known for its historic steam engines, was completely transformed into a hub of high energy and emotion as students arrived in everything from classic sports cars to vintage transport, cheered on by a crowd of proud onlookers.

After five years of dedication, late-night revision sessions, and navigating the highs and lows of secondary school life, this was the moment for students to finally let their hair down. Inside the beautifully decorated venue, the dance floor was packed from the moment the music started, with staff and students sharing memories of a journey that has flown by all too quickly.

Headteacher Mr Foskett couldn’t hide his pride when reflecting on the evening. He noted that “seeing the students grown up, confident, and celebrating together was a wonderful reminder of why the school community is so special.” He added that “this year group has shown incredible resilience and kindness throughout their time with us, making them brilliant role models for the younger students following in their footsteps.”

The feeling of bittersweet celebration was shared by the students themselves.

Oscar R summed up the mood perfectly, saying that “while I am incredibly excited about the future and their next steps, walking away from the class mates and teachers who have felt like family for five years is incredibly hard, but Prom was the perfect way to say goodbye.”

As the final songs played and the lights came up on a spectacular evening, it was clear that while the Class of 2026 are leaving the classrooms behind, the memories made not only at Statfold Barn but for the last five years will stay with them for a very long time.
