Welcome to Wilnecote - Class of 2031
Listen to this news story.
Year 6 students across Tamworth recently stepped inside The Wilnecote School for an exciting two-day transition event. The upcoming September intake explored the building, met their specialist subject teachers, and experienced a taste of high school life. This immersive experience helped our future students build confidence, spark new friendships, and discover what makes our school community so special.

You may have noticed a sudden burst of energy and brand-new faces filling our corridors over the last few days. It was our wonderful annual Year 6 transition days coming to life. For forty-eight hours, primary pupils from across Tamworth got their very first taste of secondary school life, transforming summer nerves into genuine excitement.
Guided by our older students, the visiting pupils spent their time navigating the building, finding their way around our classrooms, and quickly mastering the art of moving between lessons. Our specialist teachers pulled out all the stops, letting the children dive into hands-on science experiments and creative projects. It was a brilliant preview of the academic journey waiting for them when they officially join the Wilnecote family this September.
Between the busy lesson tasters, the pupils spent their break times mixing with peers from various other local primary schools, turning quiet caution into the happy noise of new friendships.
“Seeing the confidence grow in these young people over just forty-eight hours is always the absolute highlight of my year,” says Miss Donald, our Transition Lead.
Our Headteacher, Mr Foskett, was equally proud to welcome the visitors. “It has been a joy to watch our future pupils settle in so naturally. They have already shown a fantastic commitment to the values we care about most.”
The students themselves left the school buzzing. Future student George N admitted he was worried about getting lost, but found everyone incredibly kind and is now excited for science lessons. Selina M, who joined the visit from St Gabriel’s Primary School, loved how welcoming and kind everyone was in the classrooms, adding that she is looking forward to trying new things and discovering what is right for her.
The foundations have been firmly laid, and we look forward to giving our new Year 7 cohort a warm welcome this autumn. Read the full article online to discover more about their adventure.
