Girls’ Sports Round-Up: A Season of Triumph and Teamwork!
It has been an incredibly busy and successful term for our girls’ sports teams. From nail-biting penalty shootouts to undefeated tournament runs, our athletes have shown outstanding dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. Here is a look back at the highlights from Football, Netball, and Rounders.

Football
Our Years 8, 9, and 10 teams have had a fantastic run, competing fiercely in both the County Cup and local Tamworth fixtures.
-
Year 8: The squad reached the second round of the County Cup and put up a brilliant fight in the Tamworth League against Ammington. Despite a narrow 2-1 loss, the girls played exceptionally well, featuring an excellent goal from Freya and an outstanding performance in goal by Chloe.
-
Year 9: Heartbreak came in the County Cup as the team were deeply unfortunate to be knocked out on penalties. However, they bounced back brilliantly in a mini-tournament against LIFT Tamworth, securing 1-0 and 3-2 victories. Rosie and Ebony scored excellent goals, Sophia and Kayleigh impressed in attack, and the defensive trio of Harper, Ruby, and Felicity was simply outstanding.
-
Year 10: Showing great maturity, the Year 10s reached the second round of the County Cup, where they were narrowly defeated by a tough Rawlett Year 11 side. Isla found the back of the net, and Maisie was incredibly reliable in goal. Special mentions go to Oliwia, who was named Players’ Player, and Weronika, who earned Coaches’ Player.

Netball
Netball success spanned all year groups this season, with our teams showcasing brilliant tactical awareness and determination across multiple tournaments.
-
Year 7: The team has gone from strength to strength, securing their first netball win of the season and finishing a fantastic third in their end-of-season tournament.
-
Year 8: A spectacular season for the Year 8s! The Blue Team remained completely undefeated all season, rightfully winning their tournament. Meanwhile, the Wilnecote Pink Team showed incredible grit to finish third—a remarkable feat considering they played with only six players! Amelia and Elsie led the attacking play beautifully, while Bea and the rest of the defence worked tirelessly to make crucial interceptions.
-
Years 9 & 10: Competing in a combined team, the girls put in a stellar effort against tough opposition to finish a highly commendable fourth overall.

Rounders Success
We hit the ground running as the rounders season got underway, with some massive scoring tallies from our younger year groups.
| Year Group | Tournament Result | Highlights & Scores |
| Year 7 | 🏆 Winners! | Started the season in style; drew against TEC and beat QEMS, scoring a whopping 12 rounders in total. |
| Year 8 | 🥈 2nd Place | A brilliant run, beating Rawlett and narrowly losing by just 1 rounder to QEMS, finishing with 9.5 rounders. |

A massive congratulations to all the girls who took part this term. Your hard work in training is paying off, and you have represented the school brilliantly!
