Top Marks for Taste and Trust: Canteen Secures Five-Star Rating
We are delighted to announce that The Wilnecote School canteen has officially been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating following a recent inspection by the Food Standards Agency.

This top-tier rating (the highest possible score) confirms that our catering facilities meet the most stringent government standards for food handling, cleanliness, and management. For our students and staff, it’s a guarantee that the meals served every day are prepared in an environment that puts safety and quality first.
Maintaining such high standards requires meticulous attention to detail, from the temperature of the ovens to the rigorous documentation of every ingredient used.
Helen Perkins, Catering Manager, expressed her pride in the kitchen team’s hard work:
“We are absolutely thrilled to have retained our five-star status. The team works incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure that our kitchen is spotless and that every meal we serve is prepared with the utmost care. It’s wonderful to see that dedication recognised officially.”
The rating isn’t just about cleanliness; it also reflects the effectiveness of the school’s overall management systems and the physical condition of our facilities.
Mr Mike Stevenson, Business Manager at The Wilnecote School, highlighted the importance of this achievement for the wider school community:
“Providing a safe and healthy environment for our students is always our top priority. This five-star rating is a testament to the high standards we set for ourselves across the board. I would like to thank Helen and her entire team for their professionalism and for ensuring our canteen remains a benchmark for excellence.”
The canteen team is already looking forward to continuing this success throughout the academic year, with plenty of nutritious (and “five-star”) menus planned for the coming months.
