Book Fair Bonanza: Students Raise Funds for New Library Titles!

The Wilnecote School community has once again demonstrated its incredible festive spirit and generosity during our annual Christmas Jumper Day and Foodbank appeal.

The school was a sea of colour on Friday as students and staff swapped their blazers for a fantastic array of Christmas jumpers. While the knits brought plenty of festive cheer to the classrooms, the true highlight was the overwhelming volume of donations brought in to support the Tamworth Foodbank.

A Community Coming Together

From the moment the gates opened, students arrived with bags full of essential items, filling our collection crates to the brim. The sheer number of donations this year was a testament to the kindness of our families, ensuring that we could provide a significant boost to the foodbank’s supplies during their busiest season of the year.

The collection included a wide variety of much-needed items, including:

  • Essential staples: Tinned vegetables, meats, pasta sauces, and UHT milk.

  • Festive treats: Mince pies, biscuits, and chocolates to bring a smile to families over the holidays.

  • Hygiene products: Toiletries and essential household items.

Delivering the Magic

Once the final donations were counted, our student helpers worked hard to load the school minibus for the short journey to the Tamworth Foodbank warehouse. The volunteers there were delighted to receive such a large delivery, explaining that these items will be distributed immediately to local residents in need.

“I am incredibly proud of how our students and their families have stepped up once again,” said Mr Foskett. “It was moving to see the stacks of crates ready for delivery. It’s a powerful lesson for our students in the impact we can have when we work together to support our local community.”

A Huge Thank You

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to every parent, carer, and student who contributed to this year’s drive. Whether you donated a single tin or a full carrier bag, your contribution has made a real difference to a family in our town this Christmas.

Well done to everyone involved, and we wish our whole school community a very Happy Christmas!
