World Book Day Door Décor Sparks Creativity
Across The Wilnecote School

World Book Day 2025 took on a whole new twist at The Wilnecote School and it was right on our doorstep.

This year, staff and students came together to celebrate reading in one of the most creative ways yet.

Form groups across Years 7 to 11 were challenged to transform their form room doors into vibrant and eye-catching displays.

The corridors were soon bursting with colour, imagination, and more than a few surprises,  including one form group that featured a doughnut as part of their design.

From hand-drawn artwork and bold lettering to clever props and interactive elements, the competition showcased just how inventive our students can be when it comes to books.

The challenge not only brightened up our school but also encouraged students to think deeply about what stories mean to them — and how to bring them to life in new and exciting ways.

Each year group had a slightly different brief.

Years 7 to 9 focused on books they’ve been reading in form time, finding out information about the book and its author.

While Years 10 and 11 were asked to represent different literary genres — from mystery to poetry.

All the forms got heavily involved, and the competition brought out some friendly rivalry between groups.

The Doors were judged on, the quality of work, the information shown about the book/genre and creativity.

Now, the votes are in, and the winners have been revealed.
