geography Field Trip October 2024

Our fantastic Year 11 Geogrophers embarked on an exciting GCSE Geography field trip. With clear blue skies and no rain in sight, we were ready to delve into some real-world geographical investigations.

Our first stop was Birches Valley in Cannock Chase. Here, we explored how human activities are impacting the local ecosystem. We observed visitors enjoying outdoor pursuits like GO APE, gaining firsthand insights into the complex relationship between humans and nature. We then ventured onto a bike trail to study the effects of erosion on habitats and the changing vegetation patterns within the forest due to human influence.

The second part of our trip took us to Stafford town centre. Year 11 assessed the impact of a new shopping development on the town centre, evaluating factors such as cleanliness, safety, and footfall. While the new development offered a more pleasant environment, we concluded that the town centre still attracted more visitors.

As an unexpected bonus, we stumbled upon a thrilling zombie apocalypse in the town centre! Fortunately, it was just a flash mob performance by Stafford College students. Year 11 remained unfazed by the spooky spectacle.

Overall, the field trip was a fantastic learning experience. Students gained valuable practical skills and a deeper understanding of geographical concepts. We’re grateful to all involved in making this trip a success.
