Students and staff at The Wilnecote School recently raised vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support through a highly successful cake and bead sale. With delicious treats and handmade beads on offer, everyone involved donated generously. This wonderful event proved once again what a friendly and supportive place our school is.

You might have noticed an abundance of sweet treats and beautifully crafted accessories around The Wilnecote School recently.

These were not just a new trend for the term. They were actually part of a fantastic cake and bead sale organised to raise money for the Macmillan Coffee Morning.

Students and staff came together in a remarkable show of generosity, proving exactly why this is such a friendly place to be.

Beautifully handmade beads were available for just £1, while a delicious selection of cakes were sold for 50p.

However, those who are part of the school truly shone through during the event, with many willing to donate well above and beyond the asking prices.

Because of this incredible generosity, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that the total amount raised was £221.

Gemma (the event organiser and Specialist teacher for the Autism Base at The Wilnecote School) was overwhelmed by the response.

“The atmosphere was absolutely brilliant,” Gemma explained. “Seeing everyone enjoying the treats while giving so generously really shows what a friendly place we have here, and every penny raised will make a huge difference to Macmillan.”

This proud sentiment was echoed by Headteacher Mr Foskett.

“It is always a proud moment when everyone at the school pulls together for a great cause,” Mr Foskett noted. “The enthusiasm shown today highlights the caring environment we strive to create every day.”

Even the newest members of the school were keen to do their part.

Selena, a Year 7 student, shared her excitement about taking part in her first major charity event since joining us.

“I loved seeing all the different cakes and buying a bead for my bag,” Selena said. “It felt really good to give a little extra money knowing it helps such a good cause.”
